RELCAP Purchase Former Portsmouth Surgery for Resi Development
RELCAP have purchased the Former Queens Road Doctor’s Surgery in Portsmouth for Residential Development.
In a statement NHS Portsmouth confirm :
Queens Road surgery has now closed for business. The practice had struggled to recruit new GPs and despite approaching other partnerships in the city had not been able to merge with another practice. With one of the GPs moving to work outside of the city it was not possible for the remaining GP to continue on his own, and the practice had therefore become unsustainable. With the practice having taken the difficult decision to close, NHS Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) explored several options to try to keep it open, including trying to find another practice or organisation to come in and take over the running of the surgery. However no alternative practical solution could be found.
With a number of other practices within easy reach of Queens Road, all of its former patients are now registered elsewhere in the city. The CCG is therefore not looking to commission Primary Medical Services from the Queens Road site, either now or in the future
A detailed planning application has been submitted to Portsmouth City Council to convert the disused premises to 8 x brand new apartments with parking and amenities to the rear of the site.

Local Architects HRP have done a fantastic job to bring this site back to life with this scheme, and we are hopeful Portsmouth planners will approve the scheme over the next 8 weeks. It is great to be developing schemes in my home town where I started out 20 years ago ! Elsewhere we have 5-6 sites completing over the next month so please do get in touch with any new opportunities. 0203 794 0300 or our Head of Property Ian Newman on in@relcapital.co.uk
